To keep labels consistent across the platform, tags will move into Configuration and extend to documents. Today tags can only be created while editing a record, so the same idea ends up spelled three different ways and nobody can tidy it up afterwards.
Key Enhancements
one page for every tag: a single list in Configuration showing all tags, filtered by where they are used: third parties, contracts, controls, issues, risk register and frameworks.
create without a record: add a new tag directly, without opening a record first.
safe renaming: rename a tag and every record carrying it follows, so nothing loses its label.
archiving with a guard: archive tags you have finished with. A tag still in use cannot be archived, and you are told how many records are holding it.
nothing deleted outright: archived tags stop appearing in pickers and filters, but are never removed.
permission controlled: access to tag management is governed by its own permission.
tags on documents: tag a document as you upload it or later, with as many tags as it needs.
document filtering: tags appear in document lists and can be filtered on, useful where the list of document types has grown unwieldy, since a tag carries your own terminology without adding another type.
This update will cut duplicate and inconsistent tags, give administrators one place to tidy up safely, and make documents easier to find without expanding the list of document types.
